Plextor PX-128M5S

Released June, 2012
  • 128 GB
  • 2.5" SATA III
  • 256 MB
6.2 Out of 10

This is a small dissapointment because one of the main reasons I liked the M3 Pro was its power efficiency, yet high performance.

Overall the read performance is excellent, only Crucial m4 and Samsung SSD 830 are faster at some transfer sizes.

Plextor M5S 256 GB Review: Marvell Inside, With A Twist

by Richard Hart |
www.tomshardware.com
Plextor sent over its M5S to start with, and we're taking it for a test drive to evaluate its position versus some of the other popular models in its class.
It doesn't come with any accessories or software, and it's only covered by a three-year warranty.

Plextor M5S Now Available

by Kristian Vättö |
www.anandtech.com
Plextor launched the M5S SSD about two weeks ago and we were among the first to review it.
I would estimate the 256GB M5S to retail for around $250, while the 64GB model will probably be a bit more expensive at ~$85-90.

Plextor M5S 256GB Review

by Kristian Vättö |
www.anandtech.com
The quick conclusion would be that the M5S must be inferior in some way because Plextor would not give it the same 5-year warranty as before.
The power consumption is not awful but it was better in Plextor's previous generation SSDs, thus the disappointment.

Plextor Releases M5S SSD Series

by Kristian Vättö |
www.anandtech.com
The difference is likely due to the slower NAND interface (166MB/s per Micron device vs. up to 400MB/s for the Toggle 2.0 devices).
Hence we only have MSRPs to list, but expect the street prices to be slightly lower.
