Crucial M550

Released March, 2014
  • 64 GB
  • 2.5" SATA III
6.6 Out of 10

There is some overhead from the commands like the picture above shows but thankfully today's interfaces are so fast that it's only in the magnitude of a few percents and in real world the usable throughput should be around 155MB/s..

A single NAND die isn't very fast but when you put a dozen or more of them in parallel, the performance adds up.

With eight dies, the total write throughput would be only 80MB/s but the 120GB M500 is rated 130MB/s..

hmm, you use the key that is in the box to get the Acronis Cloning software, its not hard to do it links to your email account even so you can use free cloning software like AOMEI Backupper which i used often (free just do disk clone) and other ad supported ones work as well
I purchased and returned the M550, and let me tell you why... First, I bought a Crucial 512gb ssd about two years ago and was happy. So, I did not even shop. Once I received it, I went to register my product online and could find no reference in search for registering any product. The online site said to use Acronis Cloning software... ok great... I found the download for a trial version. However, the trial version would not work without paying for the key. When I communicated with customer service, I was told I had to buy their "install kit". No software to install, or clone, was provided. And, they no longer register their products. O'My... Three year waranty??? Does not sound so secure... I do not need cables, or brackets, or a CD... I just need to be able to download software to clone my wife's HHD to a new faster SSD. Cost for the "install kit" ~$60 on Amazon. Samgung has a new EVO 850. Samsung has an easy install software that is included. Samsungs EVO is newer... And, from my reading, better... I will never buy another product from Crucial. And, I am now soured on any Micron products. Disappoint me once... And, you lose me forever...
